Model Essay #1:

Some people think parents should read or tell stories to children, while others think parents need not do that, as children can read books, watch TV or movies by themselves.

Some people argue that parents should read or tell stories to their children, while others believe that it is unnecessary as children can read books or watch TV and movies on their own. Both views have their merits, but I am inclined to believe that children can benefit from independent exploration of books and media.

Supporters of children reading books or watching TV independently argue that it encourages self-sufficiency and critical thinking. They contend that allowing children to choose their own reading materials or media content enables them to develop their own perspectives and fosters independence. Furthermore, it can broaden their knowledge and understanding of the world, as they explore various topics that interest them.

On the other hand, proponents for parental involvement in storytelling argue that it strengthens the parent-child bond and nurtures a love for reading. When parents read or tell stories to their children, it creates a special bonding time and instills a love for literature. Additionally, it helps children develop imagination and creativity, which are vital for cognitive development. Research has shown that children who are read to at home have better language and literacy skills.

In my opinion, while parental involvement in storytelling is valuable, children can also benefit greatly from independent exploration of books and media. For example, when I was a child, I developed a love for reading by exploring books on my own, which allowed me to discover my interests and expand my knowledge. Therefore, I believe that children should have the opportunity to explore books and media independently, while still being encouraged to engage in storytelling with their parents.

In conclusion, while some argue that parental involvement in storytelling is essential, I believe that children can benefit from independent exploration of books and media. Allowing children to choose their own reading materials or media content can foster independence and critical thinking, while still recognizing the value of parental involvement in nurturing a love for literature.

Model Essay #2:

Some people think parents should read or tell stories to children, while others think parents need not do that, as children can read books, watch TV or movies by themselves.

Some people argue that parents should read or tell stories to their children, while others believe that it is unnecessary as children can read books or watch TV and movies on their own. Both views have their merits, but I believe that parental involvement in storytelling is crucial for a child's development.

On the one hand, proponents of children reading books or watching TV independently argue that it fosters independence and critical thinking. They believe that exposure to various forms of media allows children to explore different perspectives and develop their own understanding of the world. Moreover, it can enhance their vocabulary and comprehension skills, which are essential for academic success.

On the other hand, advocates for parental involvement in storytelling argue that it strengthens the parent-child bond and nurtures a love for reading. When parents read or tell stories to their children, it creates a special bonding time and fosters a love for literature. Additionally, it helps children develop imagination and creativity, which are vital for cognitive development. Research has shown that children who are read to at home have better language and literacy skills.

In my opinion, while it is beneficial for children to explore books and media independently, parental involvement in storytelling is indispensable. For instance, when I was growing up, my parents used to read bedtime stories to me, which not only enhanced my language skills but also created cherished memories. Therefore, I believe that parents should actively engage in storytelling to promote a love for reading and strengthen the parent-child relationship.

In conclusion, while some argue that children can read books or watch TV independently, I believe that parental involvement in storytelling is crucial for a child's holistic development. It not only enhances language skills but also fosters a love for literature and strengthens the parent-child bond.
