Model Essay #1:

In some countries children have very strict rules of behaviour, in other countries, they are allowed to do almost anything they want. To what extent should children have to follow rules?

In some countries, children are expected to follow strict rules of behavior, while in others, they have more freedom. In my opinion, it is important for children to have some rules to follow, but they should also be given some freedom to make their own choices.

Firstly, having rules helps children understand boundaries and develop a sense of discipline. For example, at my school, we had rules about being respectful to teachers and classmates. This helped me learn how to interact with others in a respectful manner, which has been valuable in my adult life. However, if rules are too strict, children may feel suffocated and rebel against authority.

On the other hand, giving children some freedom allows them to explore and learn from their experiences. For instance, when I was allowed to choose my own extracurricular activities, I discovered my passion for music. If children are given too much freedom, they may make poor choices, but with guidance, they can learn from their mistakes and develop decision-making skills.

In conclusion, while it is important for children to have some rules to follow, it is also crucial to give them some freedom. This balance can help them develop a sense of responsibility and independence, while also understanding the importance of rules and boundaries. Ultimately, by finding the right balance, children can grow into well-rounded individuals capable of making positive contributions to society.

Model Essay #2:

In some countries children have very strict rules of behaviour, in other countries, they are allowed to do almost anything they want. To what extent should children have to follow rules?

In some countries, children are expected to adhere to strict rules of behavior, while in others, they are granted more freedom. In my view, children should have to follow rules to a great extent as it helps in their overall development and prepares them for adulthood.

To begin with, having rules in place instills important values such as respect, responsibility, and self-discipline. For example, in my family, there were rules about completing homework before playtime. This taught me the importance of prioritizing tasks and being responsible. Moreover, rules can ensure the safety and well-being of children, such as following traffic rules or safety guidelines at school.

Furthermore, having clear rules can provide a sense of structure and security for children. When I was growing up, knowing the boundaries set by my parents and teachers made me feel secure and helped me understand the consequences of my actions. This sense of security provided a stable foundation for my personal growth and decision-making skills.

In conclusion, while some may argue for giving children more freedom, it is essential for them to have rules to follow. Rules help in shaping their character, teaching them important values, and providing a sense of security. By following rules, children can develop into responsible and well-rounded individuals, equipped to handle the challenges of adulthood.
