Model Essay #1:

Once children start school, teachers have more influence on their intellectual and social development than parents. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

In my opinion, I partly agree with the statement that teachers have more influence on the intellectual and social development of children once they start school. While teachers play a crucial role in educating and shaping the minds of students, parents also have a significant impact on their children's development.

Firstly, teachers have the responsibility of imparting knowledge and skills to students in various subjects such as mathematics, science, and languages. They also provide guidance and support to help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Moreover, teachers create a conducive learning environment that fosters social interaction and cooperation among students, which is essential for their social development.

On the other hand, parents are the primary caregivers and role models for their children. They instill values, beliefs, and moral principles that greatly influence the social and ethical development of their children. Furthermore, the emotional support, encouragement, and involvement of parents in their children's education significantly contribute to their overall development.

For instance, in my own experience, my teachers provided me with academic knowledge and guidance, but it was my parents who instilled in me the importance of empathy, respect for others, and the value of hard work. Both my parents and teachers played unique and complementary roles in shaping my intellectual and social development.

In conclusion, while teachers have a significant influence on the intellectual and social development of children once they start school, parents also play a crucial role in shaping their children's character and values. Therefore, both teachers and parents have a shared responsibility in nurturing and developing the potential of children as they progress through their educational journey.

Model Essay #2:

Once children start school, teachers have more influence on their intellectual and social development than parents. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

I fully disagree with the statement that teachers have more influence on the intellectual and social development of children once they start school compared to parents. While teachers undoubtedly play a vital role in educating and guiding students, the influence of parents on their children's development is irreplaceable and fundamental.

First and foremost, parents are the first educators and role models for their children. From a very young age, children learn essential social and intellectual skills from their parents, including language development, problem-solving abilities, and social behavior. The nurturing and supportive environment provided by parents significantly impacts children's emotional and social well-being, laying the foundation for their future interactions with others.

Additionally, parents are deeply involved in their children's education and personal growth. They provide continuous support, encouragement, and valuable life lessons that go beyond the scope of academic learning. Moreover, the values and beliefs instilled by parents greatly influence children's ethical and moral development, shaping their character and behavior as they grow.

For instance, in my own experience, my parents were actively involved in my education, providing me with guidance, motivation, and emotional support. Their influence on my intellectual and social development has been profound, complementing the role of my teachers in school.

In conclusion, the impact of parents on the intellectual and social development of children once they start school cannot be understated. While teachers play a crucial role in educating and shaping students, the influence of parents is unparalleled and indispensable. Therefore, both parents and teachers have a shared responsibility in nurturing and guiding the development of children, each contributing in their unique and valuable ways.
