Model Essay #1:

Poor students or students who come from rural areas often find it is difficult to get access to the university education, so some people think universities should make it easier for them to study at. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In my opinion, I strongly agree that universities should make it easier for poor students or those from rural areas to access higher education. There are several reasons to support this viewpoint.

Firstly, education is a fundamental right, and everyone should have equal opportunities to pursue it. By providing easier access to university education for underprivileged students, universities can contribute to creating a more equitable society. This not only benefits the individuals but also the community at large.

Secondly, students from rural areas often face financial constraints and lack the resources necessary to pursue higher education. By offering scholarships, financial aid, or flexible admission criteria, universities can ensure that these students are not deprived of the opportunity to further their studies.

Moreover, diversity in educational institutions enriches the learning environment and fosters a more inclusive society. When students from diverse backgrounds are given the chance to access university education, it leads to a broader exchange of ideas and experiences, which ultimately enhances the overall learning experience for all students.

For example, in many countries, universities have implemented special programs and support systems for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. These initiatives have proven to be successful in enabling these students to access higher education and ultimately contribute to their personal development and the society as a whole.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that universities should prioritize making it easier for poor students and those from rural areas to access higher education. This not only aligns with the principles of fairness and equality but also has far-reaching positive impacts on society.

Model Essay #2:

Poor students or students who come from rural areas often find it is difficult to get access to the university education, so some people think universities should make it easier for them to study at. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In my view, while it is important to support disadvantaged students, I disagree with the notion that universities should make it easier for poor students or students from rural areas to access university education.

Firstly, universities should maintain high academic standards and merit-based admissions to ensure that the value of the education they provide is not compromised. Lowering admission criteria for certain groups of students may lead to a decline in the overall academic rigor and quality of education.

Additionally, it is essential for individuals to face challenges and competition in their academic pursuits. By making it easier for certain groups to access university education, we may inadvertently send the message that hard work and academic excellence are not necessary, which could have negative implications for the future workforce and society.

Furthermore, there are alternative pathways such as vocational training and community colleges that can provide valuable education and skills development for students who may not meet traditional university admission requirements. These options can be more suitable for some individuals and should be promoted as viable choices for further education.

For instance, in some countries, there are government initiatives and scholarship programs specifically designed to support underprivileged students in accessing higher education. However, these programs often focus on providing financial assistance and support rather than lowering academic standards.

In conclusion, while it is important to address the barriers that disadvantaged students face in accessing higher education, I believe that universities should not make it easier for poor students or those from rural areas to access university education. Upholding academic standards and promoting alternative educational pathways can better serve the diverse needs of students while maintaining the quality of higher education.
