Model Essay #1:

In the recent years, the proportion of the world’s population living in cities has increased substantially. People have moved in ever growing numbers from rural to urban areas. As migration from rural areas to cities continues, it is inevitable that the infrastructure on these cities will collapse. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the number of people living in cities. This trend has been driven by migration from rural to urban areas. Some argue that this continuous migration will lead to the collapse of the infrastructure in cities. I strongly disagree with this view and believe that with proper planning and investment, cities can accommodate the growing population.

Firstly, cities have the potential to expand and develop their infrastructure to meet the needs of a growing population. For example, many cities around the world have successfully implemented urban planning strategies to accommodate increasing numbers of residents. This includes building new roads, public transportation systems, and housing developments to ensure that the city can support a larger population.

Secondly, the migration from rural to urban areas can also bring about economic growth and development. As more people move to cities, there is an increased demand for goods and services, leading to job creation and business opportunities. This economic growth can then be used to invest in infrastructure and public services, further supporting the growing population.

Furthermore, advancements in technology and sustainable urban development can also help alleviate the pressure on city infrastructure. For instance, the implementation of smart city initiatives, such as efficient energy systems and digital infrastructure, can contribute to the sustainable growth of cities without causing infrastructure collapse.

In conclusion, I believe that the continuous migration from rural to urban areas does not inevitably lead to the collapse of city infrastructure. With proper planning, investment, and sustainable development, cities have the capacity to accommodate the growing population and thrive in the face of urbanization.

Model Essay #2:

In the recent years, the proportion of the world’s population living in cities has increased substantially. People have moved in ever growing numbers from rural to urban areas. As migration from rural areas to cities continues, it is inevitable that the infrastructure on these cities will collapse. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the proportion of the world's population living in cities, largely due to migration from rural to urban areas. Some argue that this continuous migration will inevitably lead to the collapse of city infrastructure. I tend to agree with this viewpoint, as the rapid influx of people into cities can place immense pressure on existing infrastructure, leading to various challenges.

Firstly, the growing population in cities can strain the transportation systems, leading to congestion and increased pollution. For example, in many rapidly growing cities, inadequate public transportation and road networks struggle to cope with the increasing number of vehicles, resulting in traffic gridlock and air pollution.

Additionally, the surge in urban population can lead to housing shortages and inadequate living conditions. Many people moving from rural areas to cities end up living in informal settlements or slums due to the lack of affordable housing options. This can lead to social and health challenges, as these areas often lack access to basic amenities such as clean water and sanitation.

Moreover, the pressure on city infrastructure can also impact the provision of essential services such as healthcare and education. Overcrowded cities may struggle to provide adequate healthcare facilities and quality education to the growing population, leading to disparities in access to these services.

In conclusion, the continuous migration from rural to urban areas poses significant challenges to city infrastructure. The strain on transportation, housing, and essential services can indeed lead to the collapse of infrastructure if adequate measures are not taken to address these issues. It is crucial for urban planners and policymakers to proactively manage the urbanization process and invest in sustainable infrastructure to ensure that cities can accommodate the growing population without facing collapse.
